Shows

An overview of highlighted gigs and other work I have been a part of over the years

For the third year in a row I was asked back to come out on the EU/UK legs of the Lenny Kravitz tour. This time it was back to the formula of 2024, with the tour consisting festival shows in the first half and then our own arena shows on the end. The challenge with this run was getting the arena package prepped and ready before leaving for the festivals, while it also had to do perform other gigs until the arena run would start.

Summer period means festivals. So besides being out as a visiting production, I also spent some time working some dutch festivals as a house production.
Some of these are: Appelpop, Paasdrift, Hard en Hollands, Brabantse Vrienden, Kingdance/Dance4Liberation Zwolle.

In my role as Lead PA tech my responsibilities where to be the main contact point for the SE (Frank Müller, from 8days a Week). Both in the pre production phase as on the tour. Pre production work included creating the tour package, building and configuring the amp racks. At the venues I would convene with the SE about the deployment and the venue logistics and then relay that information to the rest of the PA techs. The touring package consisted mainly of JBL VTX A12’s and S28’s driven by Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD and 12000HD’s

For this show I was the all-round Audio Tech, as part of the tem from the rental company (story Event Engineering) that provided the audio package.
Besides the work that usually comes with working with an orchestra there where some unique aspects to this show:
– Managing ME-1 Personal Mixers for every musician in the orchestra, including making them comfortable using the system
– Running thoughtful cable runs for a large input count show, while being conscious of camera angles on a very open stage

On festivals, as part of the audio crew my primary role was to help tie in our own supplemental PA package when needed. As well as assisting in other duties during the show day when required by production, both within audio as outside.

As part of the Dutch Armed Forces, the “Johan Willem Friso” Royal Military Band is an orchestra consisting of 50 musicians divided over percussion, brass and woodwind sections. As part of the audio team I perform multiple roles on a show day. Starting the day with rigging and flying the PA and setting up the amp racks, afterwards going on to wire up the stage racks and other gear. To then laying down stage infra, setting up mics, placing them and patch them.
The orchestra plays a variety of different shows, from theaters and outdoor, to sporting halls and special events.
